I’ve always enjoyed WWR and Ashley Wood’s art in general, but this was my first real dig into WWR figures. Feels good under the heavy layers of stuff on top. I didn’t strip him down, but the body seems functional. Hands popped on and off easily, but a little warming couldn’t hurt.
WORLD WAR ROBOT PC
Boots on quick glance close up you can’t tell – they even have laces fully done through eyelets and tied up.Īccessories aren’t crazy – a pistol that goes in a working holster, some cannisters which attach to the gas mask tubes, and sit in a leather harness, extra hands, and PC Squared – his little robot buddy that needs carrying around. Denim that moves with the figure and is well tapered. Premium materials are present throughout – weathered and painted hard surfaces for realism, convincing leather and wool on the jacket with a working zipper, a t-shirt that lays right.

The split could have made things go either way, but luckily quality is still top notch. Underverse World War Robot 1/6th Scale Tracker NOM Hinkon Make sure to check out to keep up on all that’s coming out, including their new Pocket Universe line which has all the goodness here but in 1/18th scale! Read on to check out our shots of the 1/6th scale figure in hand, along with some additional thoughts courtesy of Underverse! Both also have other subtle differences throughout. NOM Hinkon featured here has a brown jacket and white helmet, and Nomad NOM which released around the same time is darker all around. The NOMs are the first two “traditional” returns to the WWR lore. Post-apocalyptic themed humans in crazy military gear and non conventional robots, it’s a unique world that stands on it’s own. The prose include excerpts from various diaries, journals and transcripts based around the humans involved in a fictional war in the 1980-1990s known as the Great War.ģA, and now Underverse, have served that story for a while releasing high end product with faithful representation to the lore. The book combines an unconventional use of pairing painted images and essays to tell small parts of a larger story. I have to google the images of the toys to gain more information of this dystopia that Mr.Wood has painted for us. I really wished that the 96 page World War Robot had been more like the Boilerplate graphic novel, where the art and story fused perfectly, leaved you feeling that your money was well spent.Underverse is the new home of artist Ashley Wood after 3A divided into two back in 2019. I wanted to see the soldiers, their weapons, and the robots to gain more information on the story itself. Some of the art should have been created this way, but not all of it. While the description from IDW said the Moon, Mars, and Earth, all of the painting could have been set in No-Man's Land in 1915, and I wouldn't have known the difference. Which gives the reader the gravity of the situation, but not the reason why this war and even where the action is happened most of the time. But, the style being drape, muted, and defused, leaves most of the action being portrayed in a depressed, lonely, and hopeless light. Wood I have issue with, he is clearly one of the most talented artists I have seen in years. The shadow organization NOM (Not Ordinary Men) is working towards some unknown motive, with their most prolific member Nom de Plume being something of the ThreeA mascot." Both sides are supplied with their war machines by Rothchild Industries, based in an impregnable facility on Luna. World War Robot is a story currently told through two art books (with a third coming!) by Ashley Wood of a world that develops heavy robotics and some degree of space travel, as 1980’s Earth is at war with its colony on Mars, which has declared independence. Badass battles, really intense human/robot drama, and even a little black humor and political intrigue are the order of the day in this oversize (one foot long by one foot wide!), standalone epic courtesy of Wood. In World War Robot, a dwindling band of humans and robots face off in a battle that will likely end humanity as we know it. Robots) has handled his share of robots over the years.
